Actually yes Kiahni. A job search that only consist of applying for jobs online is a waste of time and energy. There are several steps to an active job search. If you look at the numbers then you are absolutely correct. Your time would be better invested “shmoozing.” Keep in mind though, that there is an art to networking. Simply being out and about won’t land you a job either. Put simply…there is an art to job searching.

Wow. I didn’t know that only 10% of jobs were landed by applying online. Sounds like we should take more time shmoozing at mixers and less time applying for jobs?

very informative, i agree though it’s hard sometimes to sell yourself if you are not confident about your product but if you want it bad enough you will speak up! i am so proud of you Andrea

I love reading you blogs. You are so real, it makes it easy for me to connect. I f-e-e-l all that you are saying,however, Life experiences of lows cause us to remember from where we get our strength and direction. Our Father allows these periods in our lives so that we are reminded that we must continue to completely rely on HIM. When we do, He reenergizes us as only HE can.

I am living this now and am looking forward to working with Andrea Scott,LLC. I feel that my being fired is an opportunity for change and growth. I finally have the chance to live out my passion. Having a Career Counselor in these days and times is like having GPS when traveling in an unknown region; its almost necessary. Remember the company that you work for has an agenda and you should too. That agenda should include how to maximize your tenure there and or what’s next for you outside of that job. They hire consultants to advise them on how to effectively manage their work force so why shouldn’t you have your own ‘advisor’?

Thank you Andrea for posting this. When one is prepared they don’t have to fear the F Word (being FIRED) they can come to embrace it.
